Prime Time Crime
Prime Time Crime is an action/thriller set in 1970s Hollywood. The film follows Levi Carter, a popular Black TV star who plays a smooth-talking detective on a hit blaxploitation show. When he witnesses a real-life murder tied to a money-laundering conspiracy within the studio, he’s forced off script and into a dangerous investigation that blurs the line between performance and reality.
My goal with this project is to create a stylish yet hard-hitting story that honors the funky, exaggerated flair of 70s blaxploitation while subverting tropes to explore deeper themes of Hollywood exploitation, systemic racism, and the cost of fame. I want the film to feel entertaining and commercially appealing but also socially resonant, leaving audiences with both adrenaline and reflection.
